Multi-language translator system “Mantra Engine” support tranlsating Japanese comics(manga) in English

Mantra is researching and developing the AI translator technology for Manga. They announced that they would support translating Japanese manga from “Mangawan(マンガワン)” streamed by Shogakukan(小学館) into English.

1. Pirate manga is distributed more and more

Shogakukan and Mantra started this service because they want to handle pirate manga. Pirate manga which is not approved by the official procedures distributes five times more than the official edition. Especially, Kengan Ashura and Kengan Omega were viewed over 1,00 million times.

2. Fans outside Japan want to get Manga in English

You can’t find a manga in English

Mantra interviewed editors of pirate manga, and the research says that they can’t find official manga in English which they want to recommend to others, that’s the biggest reason(67.7%). It means that they would not upload pirate manga if the manga was distributed in English in the first place.

Mantra and Mangawan started to create the official English edition of “Kengan Omega” and other books. They ask manga fans to support translating Japanese into English, and the following features of “Mantra Engine” make both English and Japanese editions distributed at the same time.
