Captain Tsubasa (Original title: キャプテン翼) is a Japanese manga written and illustrated by Yōichi Takahashi since 1981. The main character Tsubasa OZORA dedicates all his life to football and his motto is “The ball is my friend”. This manga influences not only Japanese football players, but also many world renowned players. Since its publication, Captain Tsubasa has been translated into at least 20 languages and has sold more than 70 million copies, making it one of the best selling football manga worldwide.
The main character “Tsubasa OZORA” and his rival “Genzo WAKABAYASHI” will join the same J League Club for the first time. In original story, Tsubasa OZORA started his career as a São Paulo FC player and he joined Barcelona later. Genzo WAKABAYASHI went to Germany after he graduated from elementary school. And he belonged to Hamburger Sport-Verein Junior youth club. He made his debut on the top team when he was 15 years old!
So it didn’t happen in the original story that they play for the same professional club in Japan, but this collaboration goods make you enjoy imagining they play together!
