Predicted! 2022 J1 League table
Predicted! Japan Team’s 2022 J1 League table
The new J.League season begins this week, J1 League is back on Friday, February 18th. It is more difficult to predict the table.
1. How much the pandemic will affect?
I think even no clubs can predict the season and they think unpredicted accidents will happen because of the pandemic.
Last year, Gamba Osaka which I was expecting to compete for the title was almost delegated because they couldn’t start the season well and properly because of the pandemic. They were suspended from the 9th of March to the 23rd of March. The first 15 games are very important for all clubs. Looking back the last season’s table, no big changes happened after the summer. So all of them should get points and organized their strategies before they played 15 matches. If the club is forced to stop the activity, that will make their schedule gruelling or even they will lose their points if they can’t play the postponed games.

2. Prediction this 2022 season!
Who can get the qualification for ACL?
Kawasaki
Kawasaki dominated the J1 league and achieved new records in the 2020 and 2021 seasons. Most people believe that their three consecutive winnings are the title. There are no doubts about their strength. They have many talented young players and well-rounded players. Some journalists say key players left the club before the season, then that’s the big impact. But I think the coach Oniki never minds it because he always makes his team stronger after his players left. The legend player Kengo Nakamura, Japan national team player Morita, Ao Tanaka. But still, they place at the top of the league. This season they missed Leo Hatate, but they signed many players who have the potential to fill in his position. Thailand Hero Chanathip Songkrasin is one of them, and all Japanese football fans know how much he has already achieved and shown his skills in Japan. And No10 is back!! Ryota Oshima who has the best skill in Japan got injured last season. Former Japan national player is now ready to contribute to the team. The total club power is absolutely the highest, Kawaski will lead the 2022 season again.
KOBE
The most well-known club in the world might be Vissel Kobe because the world’s legendary player Andrés Iniesta Luján has played for Kobe since 2018. Last year his Barcelona pal Bojan Krkić Pérez joined his crew. Though Belgium superstar Thomas Vermaelen “Ver-mah-len” left the club, the former Japan national player Tomoaki Makino signed Vissel. Gotoku Sakai, Hotaru Yamaguchi, Yoshinori Muto who played the world cup games remain in the club. And of course, the current Japan national team’s striker Yuya Osako will be the striker this year again.
URAWA
This year is the last year of their three year project. Urawa is moving forward with Ricardo Rodríguez Suárez who is one of the best coaches in history. Urawa Reds already got two titles since the end of last year, the emperor’s cup and the Fuji-film cup. Those results show us they are going in the right direction. The club has a history, in which they spent a lot of money to get good players but they didn’t perform well. But their HR strategies really work on after the Spanish coach joined. He picked up J2 League players who he knows very well because he used to coach Tokushima which belonged to J2 League. Those players made the club legends leave the club. Many players were out and many new players are in. It’s a usually difficult situation to organize the club but Ricardo Rodríguez Suárez can handle with this and he seems to be ready for achieving their project goal and getting all titles.
FC Tokyo
A super rookie from high school Kuryu Matsuki joined the club. He already showed his high potential and will be in the starting eleven in the opening match though there are a lot of good players. I’m not sure if he can bring a bigger impact than Takefusa KUBO who is currently the main player for Mallorca and used to belong to FC Tokyo. Last year they had a lot of accidents, especially injury problems. Kenta Hasegawa struggled to fix this problem though he tried a lot of new challenges everything didn’t work. The new coach Albert Puig Ortoneda who used to coach Niigata(J2 club) signed this season. He showed beautiful football last year though he didn’t get any titles. I’m interested in how he organizes FC Tokyo has a lot of good players. The point is reorganizing the defending tactics. They used to be one of the best defending teams in the league before GK Hayashi got injured. This season they signed Jakub Słowik who is one of the best GK in the league. That definitely works on their weak point. I can’t wait for the new FC Tokyo.
Nagoya
JapanTeams exactly predicted what happened to Nagoya last season.
J.LEAGUE 2021 SEASON PREVIEW 【Nagoya Grampus】 | Japan Teams
Sho Inagaki was selected for a Japanese national team and scored the goal. Langerak contributed to the league record(9 games no conceded goals, 823 minutes no conceded goals). They were selected as the league-best eleven as well. But also I predicted negative points. Especially I was concerned about the burden on Captain Maruyama. The best defender in the team got injured after 17 games. That was a big negative impact on Nagoya. So, this season the most important thing is changing how to organize the team. Kenta Hasegawa should consider players’ fatigue for the long season. But this season, they don’t have to go to foreign countries for ACL and there are no quarantines. It must be helpful for recovery.

Yokohama
The best coach Ange Postecoglou left the club while the club competed for the title. I thought that was the big negative impact, but it didn’t affect anything at all. The club finished second place in the club. Even though one of the best players in the team Daizen Maeda left the club to join Ange, they will show beautiful football considering last season.
Ryo Miyaichi didn’t get a lot of opportunities to play, I’m sure he has the potential to fill in Maeda’s role.
Surprising!!| J League | Transfer News vol.1 | Japan Teams
Gamba
The unluckiest club last season. Tsuneyasu Miyamoto was definitely a good coach, but he needed to leave the club because the pandemic broke his plans and he failed to fix it. Last season they conceded a lot of goals, but they actually have good defenders, and the new coach Katanosaka is well-known to ask players hardworking, so he could organize the aggressive for both attacking and defending areas. And Takashi Usami who is the former FC Bayern Munich hasn’t shown his potential. I hope he will fire this season. The big loss is Yosuke Ideguchi left for The Celtic FC. Mitsuki Saito, 권경원(Kwon Kyung-won) from Korea, Dawhan from Brazil signed. Their experiences overseas will be helpful to fill in Ideguchi’s loss. Let’s see the new Gamba bounce to the top of the league.
Kashima
Kashima is the club that is always expected the titles. The Brazilian legend Zico constructed the club philosophy for the desire “WIN”. They have missed the titles, and finally, it’s time to say goodbye to Brazilian football. They welcomed the Switzerland coach René Weiler, he is the first European coach in Kashima’s history. It is the biggest thing for the club to adopt the European style considering the influence of Zico. But it doesn’t mean they don’t have players who have Brazilian skills. Young promising player Ryotaro Araki showed high potential and great attacking skills. He will try to score 10 goals and assist 10 times this season. And Diego Pituca is absolutely different, out of this league class. He’s definitely somebody. His performance is inevitable to win the league.
Kashima has to win the league to show appreciation to Zico this season.
Darkhorse clubs never give up the season
Sapporo
Who can fill in the big hole which Chanathip Songkrasin made before the season? Gabriel Xavier could be? A former England national player Jay Bothroyd left the club. The playstyle is different but they signed with Shinzo Korogi before the season. Two great players left Sapporo but they still have good attacking players. Ryota Aoki, Tsuyoshi Ogashiwa, Takuro Kaneko, Yoshiaki Komai, Tomoki Takamine, all of them have the potential to play for the national team and understand Михаило Петровић(Mihailo Petrović) football. Only their concerns are defence. They have good full-back players, especially Akito Fukumori is one of the best players in the league, but how about a centre-back and a goalkeeper? Shunta Tanaka performed very well and the club legend Hiroki Miyazawa is still one of Mihailo’s pieces. But they need more defenders considering the long journey for the 2022 season. And Takanori Sugeno sometimes showed great savings last season but they need a goalkeeper who is at the national team level. Everyone can expect their beautiful football this season again, but they need something more to finish the season at a high place.
Cerezo
Cerezo has national club level players but there are some concerns about getting the titles.
Yoshito Okubo who has the league record was retired, and other main strikers last season left Cerezo Osaka. They have world-class midfield players Takashi Inui and Hiroshi Kiyotake, but they need the last piece to score the goals for the title. Who can score to save the goal? And the best young player Ayumu Seko left for Switzerland. Ryuya Nishio who has a much higher potential than Ayumu Seko in my opinion will be required to lead the defenders. This 20-year-old defender will be the new J.League hero. Who can be his partner and support him?
Shonan
The coach Satoshi Yamaguchi who used to be the great defender in the league brought the amazing tactics and built a strong defending team last year. He has many young players but also added well-rounded players. Takuji Yonemoto and Ryota Nagaki will lead the players with their experiences and support the coach to bring strong mentalities to the team.
Ryota Nagaiki is back after he spent at one of the most historical clubs in J.League. He will bring the philosophy for the win from Kashima. He will be required as not only one of the players but also as a mentor. Yamato Wakatsuki is also back after he spent FC Sion in Switzerland. A promising youngster Akito Suzuki will compete in the striker position against him. Kosei Tani showed a lot of big saves last year, they extended the loan contract this season again. All supporters must be excited for watching his play in Shonan again.
Shimizu
Miguel Ángel Lotina Oruechebarria is a great coach, but his defensive tactics didn’t match with Shimizu. will coach Hiroka show the beautiful attacking football again? Yuito Suzuki who showed a stunning performance and was selected for the Japan national team will be the most featured player in JapanTeams. Because they have good defenders. Though Lotina was fired, players who Lotina brought singed this year again. So scoring goals is the key. New players Yuta Kamiya, Daigo Kato, Takumi Kato, Ryohei Shirasaki will be required to score more goals than last season. If they can, Shimizu could win the title.
Which clubs could be relegated?
Tosu
Tosu changed the coach and many good players told fans goodbye. Still, there are good players in the club and signed new good players. But I wonder if they can win the games. But actually, their evaluation is always low every year before the season, but they are still in J1 League. It means they could surprise us again.
Iwata
Some journalists expect Iwata will be the dark horse this season. Yasuhito Endo who is 42-year-old still shows great skills on the pitch. Everyone is excited to watch his play again. But the most featured player in JapanTeams is definitely Yosuke Furukawa. The 18-year-old player showed great skills last high-school nationals. Let’s see if his dribbling can break J1 defenders. Iwata has good attacking players but their concern is the defensive side. If they can save their goal against J1 clubs, they will welcome 2023 as a J1 club.
